Adelaide trip

I recently took a trip to my home town of Adelaide for some family business. I always had the camera close by and as always, I wasn’t disappointed when I took a drive around. I went from my home in the hills all the way to the sea and the landscape and the architecture are forever changing. My camera was getting some shots of some things that are quintessential Adelaide. The beaches in Adelaide are grea for kids to learn to swim. There were people jumping off the jetties to get a thrill while they cooled down in the summer heat. The fishermen were trying to get the odd fish and some crabs while seagulls and petrels circled around waiting for an easy meal. then I saw a seal swimming around, stealing all the salmon baits out of the crab nets. then a short drive out to Outer Harbour to catch a sunset over the Port river. It never disappoints.

A trip up further into the hills saw me at the Birdwood Mill and National Motor Museum. This place is absolutely amazing. The stunning collection of cars and other vehicles is a sight to behold. And with all the history in front of you, it’s hard not to be humbled by the efforts the early explorers and delivery people. They also have some of the most unusual vehicles you could see.

I stayed at the Belair National Park Caravan Park and it is full of peace and quiet. The cabins are nice and clean and very well priced too. You have friendly Magpies walking past, Koalas in the gum trees, Kangaroos in the old golf course and the occasional possum in the trees at night. I couldn’t ask for more.

On the way back to Melbourne, I stopped at the Pink Lake National Park outside of Dimboola. The clouds and rain were rolling in fairly fast so I got the camera out and got as many shots as I could before we got wet. Its a great place for a photographer to explore their own boundaries and imagination.
